Time of the year…
No particular theme here apart from the time of the year, a Dove that hangs out with Pigeons, a sunset and one of my mountain bikes… Read the rest of this entry »
More than just “Bad Press”
Today, a left wing lady journalist Mary Riddell who apparently writes for the Guardian and the New Statesman wrote a piece in the Telegraph in praise of Gordon Brown. It was not truth to tell a display of journalistic skill but I say that not because of the content rather because it failed to persuade me that the “Son of the Manse” was just having a rough patch and that he will come through it all wonderfully in the end. Sympathy for the Devil…
Success carries within it the very seeds of destruction and Gordon Brown should, if he is as well read and intellectually as bright as his Mother thought him to be an opinion the press echoed, know that he is presiding over the meltdown of the Labour Party in England with only a rump being left in Scotland and Wales. ID Cards and the Technical Stuff = The Fatal Flaws
Do I object to Identity Cards in Basic Principle ?
The answer is no, my objections rest purely on the grounds of practicality and costs. The main problems would arise from the technical efficiency of any such system and my approach is from the perspective of an experienced IT Project Manager who has always split his time 80/20 on any project, 80% on the ‘business’ and the people involved in it and 20% on the technology. The reason for this ratio is simply that you can do anything you like technically but for a successful outcome, the technology should be empathetic to the “business model” and the people involved in that because people are an integral part of any IT system.

Frosty Morning on the Brue
I ride along the River Brue every morning and although better full size, the following give a flavour of the light and colours on a frosty morning in November, still, beautiful and quite clear. Read the rest of this entry »
Tornado Fighter
These pictures were taken at an Air Show, first in flight – so that’s what it looks like ! However the other two taken in the evening and with the plane parked, however as pictures were a bit too ordinary, after some work in Photoshop and converting to black & white, they may be a bit more interesting. White man has fire stick !
Data is a highly valuable commodity and yet this does not seem to have penetrated the conciousness of the Government and it’s employees which is little short of extraordinary in 2007. The current story of the “Taxman” loosing on two disks, a copy of a database containing the details of 15 million names, addresses, including children, is shocking but what it points to is both a totally wrong culture and bad line management.
Red Arrows
I have always liked things that fly be they birds or planes and although not a true “propeller head”, I will always go and see the RAF Red Arrows perform because they are truly stunning. Read the rest of this entry »
When you are Hot and When you are Not
Recent events have been truly extraordinary for the current Government, as of now they seem totally doomed and we are just talking about say the last couple of weeks although and obviously, the starting point in each instance came far earlier in this decade of misrule. The public demise of Gordon Brown is running in parallel with that of Amy Winehouse who seems hell bent on self destruction by any means but at least, she can sing and has talent, Cyclops has none, clearly.
