Bit of a Balls Up Bishop !

My immediate reaction to the Archbishop of Canterbury saying that the inclusion of Sharia Law into the UK legal framework is ‘inevitable’ is to label him a silly sod. However, I am sure that his intention was good even if his grasp on the realities and implications of what he was saying was rather tenuous. He talked about the position that Catholics were placed in over Catholic Adoption Agencies being unable to refuse gay couples because of “equality” legislation but fails to understand that is a different matter.

On My Journey, a Turning Point

One of the lessons that I have learned from Life is that very often when you set out down a particular path, you are eventually led into a totally different direction from the one you intended or even imagined. It is important to have a plan, it is important to have a direction to go in and once you have those, the most important thing is to make a start but be prepared for change.

The Mood of Our Times – Distinctly Nasty

I have by default a good nature and although I can get angry and passionate as any other person, my default mode of behaviour is humorous rather than aggressive. Back in the late 80′s when, not coming from a computer literate generation, I taught myself and studied computer technology during the day, at night I was a Doorman at a busy West End London bar and at 5’8”, certainly no Rambo.

NATO, Afghanistan and for Peace, prepare for War

Because of leaked letters, a public row has erupted within NATO ranks concerning troop deployments and contributions by various countries to actual “war fighting” in Afghanistan and particularly in the South where the British, Canadians and US forces are very heavily engaged with the Taliban. The Canadians are so stretched that they have warned that unless other troop contributions are found, they will end their mission there.
