Sorry, I still want a Referendum

Although a topic that to many will seem very boring, the EU Constitution will just not go away and frankly, that is quite correct because it should not. The more that comes to light such as the apparent “back-door” promises made to the Irish Government on Corporation Tax rates that France wants unified right across the EU because they are totally uncompetitive in France.

But back to the Republic of Ireland who by their Constitution, must hold a Referendum on the EU Constitution however this merely illustrates just what a decidedly dirty deal this EU Constitution is for the whole of the EU apart from France and Germany who feel that they should control all things EU, France because she takes most from the CAP, Germany, because she pays most to the CAP. I must be frank and question as to exactly why 25 other EU countries should “bow down” to these two derelict outfits.

Strangely for British people like me who would rather see a looser “trade only” partnership with the EU than being part of a conspiracy against all European citizens that both Hitler and Stalin would have approved of, it would have been better if Blair had still been PM and Brown the Chancellor at the time of the signing of the wretched document. If this had been so, even “thicko Brown” on becoming PM later would have seen the flaw in the whole thing and perhaps, acted differently once he had the “Conch” to himself.

Gordon is a Moron

The key problem with Brown is that he lacks any political insights or skills which would keep him in touch with the broad feelings within the Country. On this as on so many other things, he sees himself as a man “prepared to take the tough decisions” and to always “do the right thing for the longer term” but frankly, the man is totally self deluded. Whilst it is possible for a Prime Minister to pursue a policy that the public do not agree with, it can only be done by both acknowledging the ‘concerns’ of the electorate and putting forward the reasons clearly, as to why he/she will continue with the ‘policy’ they object to.

Leadership is about gut feeling or intuition combined with “technical competence” in the chosen skill. Whilst being an expert on the greatest battles ever fought in history would be useful, book learning alone does not make for a good General and certainly not for one who could lead troops into battle. What skills does Gordon Brown Prime Minister have ?

None it would appear because even his much “triumphed” tenure as Chancellor was built upon smoke and mirrors and is now unravelling. It is said that some Labour back bencher has described him as an “Albatross in a tartan waistcoat” – at the very least, I’m sure as far as the Labour Party is concerned

Future Moves

With regard to the EU Constitution, Cameron has not promised a Referendum on it by the Conservatives if they should win the next election and I think that he is correct, the horse would have bolted already by Summer 2010. What amazes me is that neither Cameron nor whoever replaces Brown have cottoned on to the most simple and obvious solution to their problems on this topic which overnight, would boost their popularity.

Not signing this EU Constitution or holding a Referendum in the UK on it, which would certainly get voted down, would really upset our EU friends and enemies because it requires unanimous acceptance by all 27 countries before it can come into force. However, the new EU Constitution includes a process for a country to leave the EU. All Brown, Brown’s replacement or, Cameron has to say is that we in the UK are honour bound not to impede “ever closer union” for those who want it within the EU so we the British Parliament will ratify it but with the proviso, that it will never become law within the UK. Therefore at the same time, we will start negotiating the terms of a looser trade only relationship between the EU and the UK.

Once these terms have been established, Parliament will commit itself to holding a binding Referendum on the UK staying a full member of the “political EU” or, adopting a “Trade Only” relationship. The “Campaign” will not be conducted on Party Political lines, on personal conviction only with equal funding and detailed access to information from the Civil Service by both camps concerning matters of hard fact.

Six Month Campaign

It would also be preceded by a 6 month build up of information and a legal requirement that any media organization which includes web sites etc, that present information on the topic must declare themselves on their “banner” and upfront, their allegiance to a Yes or No vote or, employment by any particular organization – must be a “health warning”.

If any media company within the jurisdiction of the UK failed to comply, the penalties for the owners and shareholders will be unlimited fines and life sentences for “contempt of Parliament”. The BBC would be best advised to comment, not at all and only present known facts, they are not ‘journalists’ anyway.

But one more thing: If at a later date, information came to light that and for whatever reason, either side (Yes/No), manipulated information to ensure they ‘won’ and did so with false information, the ‘result’ will be declared null and void, the issue will need to be addressed again, think about it for a moment, it cuts both ways whether “for” or “Against”, there should be honesty.

What has made the EU in most ‘British Minds’ a total monster is that no one speaks the truth, no one cares enough to bother to ‘explain’, it is clearly a world where we the citizens of the EU, take a second, third, fourth place to the needs and desires of the Brussels Eurocrats all of whom, are totally corrupt by nature.
