Just How Stupid is this Man ?
Apparently today the Albatross in a tartan waistcoat gave a speech defending the Nazi style Laws introduced under this disgusting Government. The proof that Gordon Brown like most politicians doesn’t even have the IQ of Pond life came from his own lips…
He Actually Said…
“Opponents of the identity card scheme like to suggest that its sole motivation is to enhance the power of the state – but in fact it starts from a recognition of the importance of something which is fundamental to the rights of the individual: the right to have your identity protected and secure.”
Yes and from a Government that has managed to lose the personal records of 25 million people and far too many other examples of being incapable of protecting our information which they distribute around like confetti at a wedding. They are incapable of even securing their own “Top Secret” documents which get left on trains, twice in the same week.
Not Fit To Decide
The problem with Brown and all MPs is that they are technically incompetent to decide upon these matters, they just don’t understand the issues. Brown prattling on about how the “changes in technology” require a change in our approach to Civil Liberties is not only talking utter crap but demonstrates that he is, as if we hadn’t already worked out, incapable of doing his own job of being a politician. He and the Government have become “emotionally committed” to a course of action that will destroy the economic stability of this country.
His job and that of any politician, is to examine any issue dispassionately as if he or she were one of their own constituents, they need to apply common-sense, they need to constantly question the “technical presentations” of any person or business that would profit personally or commercially from any Government funded project. That none of this has been happening is crystal clear because the explanations given in the House concerning the “technology” have been childish and demonstrate no grasp of the concepts.
ID Cards Are Rubbish
My personal objection to ID Cards is not based upon ‘Civil Rights Issues’, I am sure that if I thought about it from that aspect, I might be able to point out some issues I am sure. However as an experienced project manager from an IT background, I haven’t even got to such issues yet because simply that from a technical point of view the whole project is flawed in basic concept and what is in effect a single database solution, is something not even an IT rookie would do – its nuts !
Brown Wrong, David Davis is Right
The argument that “technology changes civil liberties” is total tosh because it doesn’t, principles remain the same throughout time. If you want proof, read a copy of the Magna Carta and if you don’t know it, read around the immediate history of the time so that you can see the context it is remarkably ‘fresh’ in principle for something written in 1215.
Magna Carta was in fact a distillation of Laws with Saxon and Danish roots that had grown up long before the Norman Conquest of England and the event was to check the abuse of powers by King John just as later King Charles Ist abused his powers and today, the Labour Government does the same.
The job of the politicians is to preserve the principles of our civilisation and not to usurp them citing “Brave New World Technology” as the reason for subjecting the people to a severe curtailment of their liberties. David Davis however “quixotic” it may appear is doing the right thing as a politician, he is fighting for our liberties, Brown couldn’t care if we all go to Hell in a wheelbarrow.
The technology can be changed and designed to fit around the liberties of the citizens. The job of the politicians and Parliament is not to get involved in the ‘technology’, their job is to restate the “privacy and liberties” that MUST be preserved and protected. The job of the contractor/suppliers is to deliver a solution that matches that requirement. It looks as though once again, we have an expensive Government funded total cock-up of an IT solution that will guarantee a “one stop shop for identity theft” by every criminal and terrorist that needs it, well done Gormless Gordon !
