The David Davis Resignation and the British Media Gets It Wrong…

im-hp.jpg

When yesterday lunch-time, David Davis announced his resignation from Parliament and the Conservative front bench over 42 Days, I was impressed. It had nothing to do with whether it was the “right” or “smart” thing to do but in terms of personal commitment, an “oasis of cool” in a very parched and shrivelled up political landscape.

I as very many other members of the public, wrote in “well done” to all the usual web bulletin boards but of course I awaited with amused patience, the “media view”. The “Media” is very funny and has a “collective response to any story” regardless of the political persuasion of the ‘outfit’ they work for plus of course, “the story” or focus changes frequently.

Totally Loosing the Plot

im-pol.jpg

So Gordon Brown has “won the vote” on 42 days by 9 UDP votes he had to “buy”, not by his +60 overall majority, what an embarrassment, what a total loss of his authority as Leader of the Labour Party, how will this play come the Conference Season ?

How silly and self obsessed can any man be that will accept such a “Pyrrhic Victory” but then once he had lost sight of the objective which was to maintain dignity and authority, I guess just about any “win” would do even if it meant relying on Beelzebub himself .

All Members of Parliament are Dumb

im-hp.jpg

The main problem with Parliament is that it is full of ignorant busybodies who lack any grasp on reality and plain old fashioned common-sense. In touching on this, I’m not arguing about whether or not there are ‘Civil Rights’ issues, merely the technical and IT problems that will have real world impacts that clearly have not been considered by Parliament because MPs are basically too stupid to grasp the technical concepts involved and are consequently wasting billions of £s of taxpayers’ money. But there is more…

Europe Yes, the EU – No !

im-eu.jpg

My view is that the UK and the EU would be better apart although that said, if there were a proper and informed debate followed by a referendum and the majority result was that we should stay in, I would accept the decision of my fellow Britons.

However and as we keep on seeing and regardless of the political persuasion of the British Government, there are never proper explanations given to the electorate on this matter. Politicians come to power and are immediately lobbied by British Civil Servants about why we have to stay in the EU.

David Cameron’s Strategy on the EU – Should Be !

im-daveprob.jpg

There are people within the UK and indeed, they have their equivalents in many EU member states, who hate the EU with some considerable vehemence, I am not one of them. The Conservative Party is reluctant to grasp an issue which has seen them torn asunder in the past but however much David Cameron wants to avoid “Banging on about Europe”, the topic will just not go away and he needs to grasp the nettle.

However, if he is smart, there is a way of dealing with the subject which would be far less “toxic” in all respects and confirm his credentials as the “Prime Minister in waiting.”
