One of the biggest problems that I face when I scan the British Press and ‘comment boards’ is a total fear of ‘Extreme Islam’ and people who will strap on a ‘suicide vest’. The very idea that ‘anyone can care that much…” is far too much for most British readers.

The consequence is therefore that it is ‘religion’ that is to “BLAME” and yet clearly, this is a flawed concept to any believer in ‘Almighty God’ by whatever ‘religious variation’ they travel this path.

Potential and Reality

Some years ago an Australian General who ran Summer Camps for young men which included training on rifle shooting, was accused of being “irresponsible for teaching them how to be murderers” by a left wing woman reporter. His reply was along the lines that although she was equipped to be a prostitute she wasn’t one.

The same sort of thinking should be applied by intelligent people when looking at religion, any religion. Over history many evil deeds have been justified at the time in the name of this religion or that but the reality is that it had nothing to do with religion, it had to do with politics and the personal advantage of the “ruling elite” of the day by imposing their will using “religious beliefs” as justification for their actions.

If you want detailed proof from close to home, you only need to read the story of the Reformation and Henry VIII, not the bodice ripping version, the intricate and political realities of the day and the struggle to be England.

By the same token, many ‘crimes’ have been committed in the name of Communism, ETA, IRA, UDA, Liberty, Fraternity, Equality and Democracy. You see you could “abolish all religions” overnight but you will still have to confront the greed, lust, arrogance and stupidity of some of mankind who will then claim “Right” in the name of Luke Skywalker, Donald Dawkins or Donald Duck. Such is the nature of man that one ‘Holy Book’ will be traded with another, only the murder and violence will remain the same.

Faith Is A Positive Force

Yes, I am a Christian and I respect the rights of all people of faith and those of none. If you are an intelligent being, leave a fear of “religious conviction” behind you and try to solve the problem using with what wit and insight you can muster.

During the first Cold War, it was ‘godless communism” that was the threat. The current problem is not Islam itself, those who call for and approve of “suicide bombers” are not religious people, they are the servants of Satan. Whether in Gaza or the Indian sub-Continent, the problem is the fact that the majority come from ‘tribal societies’ where the fundamentals tenets of Islam have been jumbled up and confused with rural customs and tribal laws.

It therefore follows that Political leaders who come from these societies will then manipulate this to their own ends of gaining and holding power over others. Religion is not the problem, indeed people of ‘faith’ who live by the rules of their beliefs are positive assets in any society and those who attach themselves to them like leeches, are the dregs of humanity.
