Steady the Buffs !

One of the most extraordinary things that one sees far too often are ‘attacks’ on David Cameron and George Osborne by supposed Conservative supporting people like Simon Heffer and Jeff Randall, in both cases, I would trust a Rattlesnake sooner than either.

As to why these people write and behave as they do, I haven’t a clue except there must be a shortage of suitable medication where they live. Today’s outing by Randall was an attack on Osborne for him not attacking Labour on its deplorable economic record.

We Want Our Way !

There is a whole section of the Conservative Party that hates David Cameron and the necessary changes he has made to it so that it can stand a chance of being elected. Originally and Simon Heffer led the charge, they were out to attack and destabilise David Cameron but as he has grown in the job and evolved, George Osborne has now become their “target”. One suspects that these are just anally retentive people who just want to have something, anything, “their way” – sit and swivel suckers !

Anybody With a Brain…

The current position for the Tories is not an easy one because the ball is still in play and there are two key issues, a banking crisis and a global recession neither of which is resolved in the sense of being able to establish parameters to design fiscal policy to.

Cameron and Osborne need to be patient hence “Steady the Buffs” as a title, they do need to hold back and let Brown flounder by himself, there are no “brownie points” to be made for being seen to kill him off – even Labour ‘pretenders to the throne’ realised that. Brown is the architect of his own and Labour’s doom so let him.

It is like a sales technique I was taught decades ago concerning “closing a sale”: You make your point and then shut up, if you open your mouth again after this point, you lose the sale – if he/she speaks first, you make the sale – it works.

My Comments to Randall in the Daily Telegraph

“Randall you are still writing total crap that even someone like you should know better than to do. The reality is that the situation is still far too fluid for anyone to put forward workable economic proposals. All you are complaining about is that the Tories aren’t shouting “Pig Bum, you smell…” at the Government, I suggest that you try and grow up.

The Tories need to tread water until the reality becomes clear simply because what the public will want to hear are concrete policy proposals that they can understand. Cameron and Osborne can’t do that until the basis for any action becomes clear. As examples, previous pledges to “Match Government spending…Share the proceeds of growth…” are already consigned to the dustbin, they don’t need to be making wild statements. Vince Cable is a very capable man but for all his attacks on Labour, it has helped the LibDem cause not at all. Consider:-

Have the current measures settled the Banking Crisis ?

We don’t yet know the answer to that do we ?

Beyond that we have a global recession, how deep and what specific measures are likely to be taken by the US and China because these issues will impact upon a Tory programme that is either full blown “Austerity” or “Austerity Lite”.

What Randall does not seem to grasp is that the majority of the electorate whilst they normally like to ignore politics, ever since this all started, have been taking a very keen interest. They are not interested in the usual political froth you get in Parliament for which they have considerably less respect than previous generations, they do want a “man with a plan” that makes sense. That Labour have screwed up for 11 years they know but, that can wait, the questions they will ask of Cameron is “What are you going to do ?”

Mind you, call me cynical if you like but I wonder if this was penned because of a speech Cameron will give today in which he attacks Labour and their economic record. It is said that a politician is someone who watches to see which way the crowd goes, then rushes in front of them and says; “Follow Me !” This now seems to include journalists like Randall – pathetic.”
