Being Nasty to Sarah Palin…
Iain Martin of the DT wrote some derogatory comments about Sarah Palin two days after the US Presidential Race was decided by the American electorate. Although I am no Sarah fan, it seems to say the very least, an “ungracious way to behave” by a British journalist.
My personal view of this conceited and self opinionated little prat can be best expressed by my postings to his blog.
The First:
Well I guess that some people just have to have someone to look down on to make them feel better but for those of you so afflicted perhaps a thought to share…
Sarah Palin was the VP on the losing ticket but everybody knows her name right across the World. Could the same be said of Dobbin or whatever his name is, the VP to Obama ? Be honest, apart from Lyndon Johnson, how many actual VPs can you name ?
Ronald Reagan was never rated that smart and yet, was possibly the most successful post war POTUS. I don’t know whether Sarah Palin will just disappear into relative oblivion or whether she is destined for bigger things, as a Brit, I don’t have a vote and it really doesn’t matter too much. If Americans want to lampoon her, it is their right but I frankly find my fellow Brits doing it, nasty, snobbish and most likely underneath it all, an excuse to ridicule Americans. Ask yourself who lit up the campaign more Hilary Clinton or Sarah Palin, you have to be in it to win it and Hilary wasn’t about much in the latter stages.
The Second Post, ENOUGH:
Look on a map, Illinois is a very long (North to South), State. When I lived and worked from Rockford Illionis – 90 miles due West of Chicago, one of my best chaps – Glenn, came from the very South of the State and had a “Southern Accent”, frankly the place (USA), is huge and travel is not measured by distance but is by elapsed time.
I ask again: just why are we in the UK “prating on about this ?” Whether the smug idiot Iain Martin can live with it or not, Sarah Palin is more important than him, has done more than him, has ‘exposed’ both herself and her family to more than he would but for one reason: She is an American Patriot as is John McCain, President elect Obama and Joe Bibden VP.
Get over it Iain and move on. I am not taking sides but I have both lived and worked in the US as in the UK and simple ‘respect’ is in order so, “Stop Your Shit Sonny”. She did not stand for public office in the UK, her team lost and they are happy to deal with that and call for the Country (USA), to unite behind Obama it is now no longer a point of debate for non-US citizens, the people have spoken.
Just quietly walk away and find other things to write about – you are a truly untravelled person aren’t you ?
