This follows on from a post on the DT Blogs, I wrote there as follows:

There are many good comments on this blog and people with a lot of commitment. May I suggest that the quickest way to restore democracy is to dilute the number of seats any of the 3 major parties can hold by fielding “Independent MPs”.

This is not a new party, the candidates hopefully would come from right across the political spectrum and be prepared to fund themselves but an umbrella organisation could be helpful to them.

What I suggest we need is not a voting bloc but honest men and women who will promise that if elected they will; Always vote on conviction and conscience. Always with an eye to the interests of their constituents and will never accept a Government job.

Now those are my ideas, I’m sure you will have better but there needs to be a debate. I am not wealthy or that smart but, we could put together a community blog of some kind as a platform for debate and see where we go from there.
