We in the West need to Change Our Approach…

It is said that “history Repeats Itself…” and indeed it does but never, in quite the same way which is what we in the ‘West’ need to understand most when dealing with “Moslem Countries and their Culture” abroad and most of all “Our Enemy OR Asset Within” local Muslims who due to previous immigration policies are resident here. They need to evolve their faith and approach to a secular society as British Muslims and whilst keeping their faith ‘pure’, reject what were or are just local ‘tribal customs’ which are irrelevant to their lives here in the UK.
In order to deal with the current Middle East situation on the one hand we have to understand that the situation in Moslem countries today is little different from that of the internal circumstances faced by Christian countries in the ‘Middle Ages’ which led to the ‘Crusades’.
The Foreign Enemy !
Amusingly and in his own little way, Gordon Brown has tried this little ploy himself under the heading; “It wasn’t my poor grasp of economics and profligate use of the Public Purse that has caused this financial crisis in the UK economy – It was American Sub-Prime that wrecked the havoc. I Gordon Brown am entirely blameless…” As well as witless and gutless it would appear.
The people currently in ‘Power’ in Muslim countries need to ‘distract’ their majority populations who could remove them from that power instantly, with another ‘enemy’ but the Western Economies on which they (the current regimes), depend are far too important so, talk of Gaza and a new ‘Jihad’ against Israel is a great idea or, is it for them ?
These countries could have solved the “Palestinian Issue” decades ago but they have never had the motivation to do so, Israel as a “running sore” in the Arab psyche, suits them better. In fact without this distraction, most of these regiemes would have been deposed decades ago.
In simple terms, the “Arabs” have always had great difficulty in uniting in any meaningful way, you start with the three great ‘outsiders’, Iran, Turkey and Egypt and even when you get to those who consider themselves ‘properly Arab’, you end up with other splits. By the time you start dealing with Muslims in places such as the former Soviet Republics, Pakistan, Africa, Malaysia and Indonesia, it all gets even more disjointed.
Our Big Mistake
The biggest mistake the West has made is ‘pandering’ to Muslim“Friendly Countries” because they have or, to be exact their current ‘Ruling Classes’ have the economic power to support currencies but, in exchange have infected us with their current and very personal ‘objectives’. Why have we never asked; “Are your objectives the same as ours ?” The answer inevitably is ‘very unlikely now or ever’.
This does not mean to dismiss Leaders from the various Muslim countries as totally stupid, let alone evil but, it is to put things into some kind of perspective because the majority of Muslim Societies are still living in a virtual “Middle Ages” period of time. Whilst their ruling classes may be very sophisticated, important sections of their societies are very backward so whilst a particular Ruler may like to see women properly educated, the dominant tribal culture is violently opposed because it is too much of a ‘personal threat’ to their position.
This very issue lies at the heart of a decision the Western countries will have to take over Afghanistan, sooner rather than later. Are we prepared to keep a far higher level of troops and aid there and accept the inevitable flow of casualties for the next 20 years ? Because that is the minimum time it will take to ‘modify’ that society and of course the real question, Should we ?
Robert Mugabe and Black Africa
The most obvious example of blatant cowardice for personal political gain and “Devil take any concept of morality” lies in the examples of the Leaders of all the other countries surrounding Zimbabwe. They have stood by and not taken positive action to bring an end to the blatant tyranny of Mugabe and his Henchmen against fellow Africans and most likely because they would like to do the same and in terms of stealing wealth from their own countries, probably are.
Also at a lower level, they have allowed tribal animosity to boil over into massacres and virtual civil war. Eventually their fixation with a ‘post colonial’ age will pass and be replaced eventually with…what ? Visionary Leaders that unify their countries ? One may hope I suppose.
It is a Historical Process
In a sense, it is this use of power to plunder the wealth of one’s own country and people that lies at the heart of the problems in dealing with black Africa and the Muslim countries. In the Anglosphere we started from Magna Carta and evolved the basis of constitutional government and a ‘secular society’ from the 17th Century and the English Civil War. We have shed our blood, had our revolutions and are still evolving our civil societies up to this day.
In a sense, this process is never finished and will always need renewal as the technology and circumstances we live under change. However the important thing to understand is that whilst we have not finished, Africa and the Muslim World, haven’t even started down this road. They will and it will be bloody, we in the West need to start planning our position now in terms of oil substitution and how we contain the inevitable exodus of people from these places as war, famine and disease strike.
