The knee jerk reaction of Labour to produce mountains of ill considered legislation is unabated by the shameful mess they have left the UKs finances in. Do we get an apology, some attempt at displaying a degree of humility ?

Not on your life, all we get is possibly the most arrogant and thick skinned MP in Westminster producing yet even more red tape to strangle the very businesses that we need to get us out of recession. Her latest foray is to force firms of 250 employees or more to publish equal pay lists but this appears to be a document telling businesses to be nice and if they don’t, legislation will follow in 2013…

Worthless Foam from the Mouth

It would be difficult to imagine just how more out of touch with reality this Labour Government is on any topic you can think of, Mad Gordon’s idea of replacing the Additional Allowance for MPs with a fixed “No Questions Asked, No Receipts Required” daily allowance is a good example – “Let them eat cake…” The Lunatics have indeed taken over the asylum.

I suspect that on most Monday mornings until they get booted out of Office, we will have one gormless Minister or another announcing an “initiative” rather like Hitler in his bunker ordering non-existent troop formations into battle.

Political Ambitions

However in the case of Harriet Harmon one must put her ambitions into perspective, she wants a stab (Ides of March – wow I like that idea!) at the Leadership of the Labour Party and hence this pronouncement. By proposing something that will only produce legislation in 2013, a period when the whole Annual Labour Party Conference will likely be held in a modest sized Marquee planted on someone’s lawn, she is not serious about legislation, only the sound bite and reference ” As I said in April 2009…” Clearly she is a very cynical woman so, we have been warned.

The truth is that Hattie and hubby Jack the Camel, have already written off the next election and “New Labour” along with Gordon Brown who will be kicked out and a new Leader required. There is a lovely story going the rounds that a Cabinet Minister has placed a bet on Labour losing the next election and got good odds – was it Hattie or Ed Balls ?

Following Defeat

Obviously it will depend on the size of the defeat but as the UK Election is won or lost in England because that is where the greater population and number of seats are, the likelihood is that Labour will be forced back to its heartlands of South Wales, Scotland and the North of England.

This being the case, a lot of the Blairite/New Labour MPs will have lost their seats and the Labour Party will lurch back extreme Left. Hattie will stand as the Heroine of Depressed Women – sorry, typo there I meant Oppressed, a Fighter for the Downtrodden and hubby delivers the Unions and their financial backing. Personally, I would fall about laughing if the good people of Peckham kicked her out Portillo style at the next election – oh be still my beating heart !
