The Boy Who Would be King…

im-blair-brown

Brown is undoubtedly a total disaster as Prime Minister following a pretty rubbish 10 years as Chancellor where he did one thing good albeit just to spite Blair, which was to keep us out of the Euro. But we in the UK really do need an Autumn election and whether that comes about by disaster hitting Brown personally or the Labour Party itself, no longer matters, the Country needs to move on.

I’ll be glad to see the back of him and his gang, time for a change and a fresh start without all the political blather from the Government which is to post rationalise past mistakes. Watching Brown announce “New Initiatives” is painful for most of us because we all know their time is up, 12 years is enough of a “turn at the wheel” whatever party you support.

Brown’s Historical Legacy

But oddly I think that Brown will be remembered far longer in history than the awful Blair simply because he Brown, is such a mass of contradictions. Is he Coriolanus, Macbeth, Mary Queen of Scots or just Mr Magoo ? Was he Muttley to Blair’s Dick Dastardly ?

A dying Government with its own Dark Lord or Cardinal Richelieu in Peter Mandybum, Harpoon Hattie, Mad Eyed Balls and Jack the Straw Man, how will future writers view this rich material ? Will they see dark drama in the well meaning, but soul tortured Brown who is ultimately doomed by the Fates. Will it be Gilbert and Sullivan or just Whitehall Farce ? Was Brown the boy who would be King but, couldn’t draw the sword from the stone ?

Well we haven’t got much else to do until they go, we are past the “When shall we three meet again…” bit, the woods of Dunsinane are already closing in !

  • I think that an autumn election is on the cards, as soon as the Irish vote over the Lisbon treaty is over. Then Mandelson can ditch Brown and start pulling the strings of his next prodigy, whomever that might be.

  • I don’t care how it happens, I would be delighted to get an election much sooner than next Spring.

I think Browns legacy will be the Labour party enduring another extended spell in the wilderness.

I hope you are right because whilst politically choosing your moment as the Party in power to call the election is legitimate, I think Brown not ending this Parliament by September, borders on High Treason.

The state of the Country’s finances is now plain to all and as Brown and his gang won’t deal with it, morally they should step aside and let others try. There is nothing that will happen in the next 10 months that will restore Labour with the electorate, we hate them.
