A French Saviour for Britain

I believe that it is becoming increasingly clear that the UK would be far better off outside of the EU however, even David Cameron has convinced his most die-hard anti EU party members, it is not a burning issue for the majority of the British electorate because like most EU citizens, they don’t see it as having much impact on their daily lives even though, it may.
In addition and historically, the British electorate instinctively distrust “clever, intellectual” politicians or those who wrap themselves in the Union Flag so, trying to get the EU as a central political issue that would engage the electorate is a highly fraught task. However, help may well be at hand in the unlikely shape of Nicholas Sarkozy, the French President, “Vive Le President !”
Where UKIP Has Failed…
Due to the total incompetence of Gordon Brown whilst negotiating with fellow EU Leaders over the “Top Jobs” following the Lisbon Treaty coming into force, we have ended up with a chinless unknown woman as the “EU Foreign Minister” (whatever daft title it is called), who’s main job will be to organize EU Embassies around the World and take notes at EU Summits. In short an admin job with no real power just as is the EU President’s job has none either, neither Sarkozy or Merkel wanted to be overshadowed by having people with “teeth” in either role.
What we should have gone for was the EU Internal Market Commissioner which in the end went to the French and Michel Barnier, a former agriculture minister which given the French predilection to the CAP, is hardly a promising sign. However, Sarkozy being Sarkozy, a rather eccentric ego maniac, then decided to portray this appointment as a “French Victory” over the City of London and a clear message that the French were now in charge of it.
Will He Keep it Up ?
I would hope so, lots of “triumphalist” nonsense along those lines will guarantee that even the British electorate take note of being “ruled by a foreigner” and react accordingly. Any Referendum called on an “IN or OUT” basis would guarantee a big majority for leaving the EU which would give the British Government plenty of leverage in any negotiations over subsequent Trade Terms.
But alas, this hyper-active dwarf will most likely realise that he’s making a mistake and suddenly shut up which is not helpful to the cause of getting out of this latter day Hapsburg Empire the main purpose of which is for the French and the Germans to lumber every other EU Country with the same expensive and over indulgent Social Security costs that they have. One day they might work out that making the whole of the EU as economically incompetent as themselves is no recipe for economic success.
Shortly, Brown and his awful Government of Incompetents will be history and although David Cameron has made it clear that he will not tackle the EU during his first term there is so much other work to do first, any ‘assault’ on the City of London that would effect its Global Standing, would change the priorities of any British Government. Under our current economic circumstances, even a Gordon Brown Government would be moving toward a Referendum on leaving the EU under such circumstances so my view is “Long Live President Sarkozy, may he strut and pose forever because his mouth alone may set us free !”
