Total Twaddle…

Someone called Liz Hoggard wrote an article extolling the benefits of legally enforceable, all women lists to become MPs. In my opinion, this woman is a total smug metropolitan media person with hardly a clue on her very best day.

This woman has neither any pride nor any shame and is typical of the NIMBY, chattering classes, generation she belongs to, vacuous in both mind and spirit, I’m aware that the Indy has financial problems but allowing a daft cow like this to write is surely not the “answer to their prayers” plus the above picture is likely 15 years out of date too.

An Equality Story

Many years ago, a good chap I worked with who happened to be gay, went home for the weekend because his Mother was a Magistrate, his Father a Barrister and every Summer they held a garden party for the Counties ‘Great and Good’, they liked having their adult children around to help with the general hospitality.

The local Chief Constable was chatting to my friend and trying to persuade him that perhaps he should consider a career in the Police Service. He smiled and said politely “I don’t think I’m qualified”. The reply he got was “You might be qualified in other ways…” My friend made his excuses and moved on but when I talked to him on Monday, he was livid and his comments were along the following lines:

“I have a degree and a Phd, they weren’t given to me because I was black or gay, I earned them through hard graft and study. Yes I know the guy didn’t mean any offence but I would spit on any job offered to me on the grounds that I was black, gay or both, I am an individual and want to be judged on my merits as a person. It is no more valid to judge people on the colour of their eyes, skin, hair, height, gender, body mass, religion, cultural background than it is their taste in music, cars or interior decoration because such things whilst they may be ‘clues’ to class and status, do not describe a person.”

Setting Standards

Despite being a Catholic, I have always been disgusted with Ruth Kelly who is exactly the kind of person we don’t want as MPs. What was it, 4 children since being elected and Ministerial posts ? Botox, she is either a poor mother, a poor Minister or most likely both. It has nothing to do with ‘putting women down’ but has a lot to do with some fundamental issues in life: Everybody wants to get to Heaven but nobody wants to die.”

Whilst I would like to see more women in Parliament, being an MP is not a career choice between that and the WI or knitting. Yes it’s tough but show me and the world that you are prepared to sacrifice what it takes to be there and you really want to make a difference otherwise, Shut the F**k Up. There are thousands of men with opinions but they will never make it to Parliament because they actually don’t care enough, so too women.

Love ‘em or loath them but I rejoice in the Bessy Bradocks, Barbara Castles, Margaret Thatchers and the mighty “Widders”, all were, are serious and made a contribution whilst people like Liz Hoggard likely can’t remember where they left the car keys, husband, children or even where they live…brainless idiot !

Totally Vacuous

Looking this woman up is quite amusing, try the following link: http://www.journalisted.com/liz-hoggard hardly a razor sharp or ‘insightful’ journalist here I’m afraid.

Yes, being such an individual in your own right that producing articles on varying topics and whether people agree with you or not, is difficult, striking sa pose against the tide, even more so but not having any much of a character is even difficult as Ms Hoggard demonstrates all too clearly.

I couldn’t care a fig for this woman but I would like to see more women in Parliament but please, no “Blair Babes”. Whether male or female and of whatever political persuasion, I want people (women too), to succeed under the current circumstances because I know they will be true. “Quota Filling” is not the way to go and the idea that a legally enforceable “quota” is a good idea, can only come from a total nit wit who doesn’t really have to earn her own corn.
