Day Twenty Six of the Election

Whoever is currently writing the Independents Editorials is behaving like a stubborn, spoilt brat because they insist on turning out juvenile crap everyday. Here in these last few days of the Election, the ‘Guardian has declared for Clegg, the Times for Cameron and all the Indy can do, is moan about the Tories, what a bunch of total Muppets !

Of course there is perhaps a bit of arrogance here on my part and most regular contributors in the sense that one expects the Editorial staff to read the feedback they get to their articles over the Web and the likelihood is that they never even look at the scribblings of us “civilians” when they have toenail and face painting to do this weekend.

Day Twenty Five of the Election

So last evening we had the third and last “Leaders TV Debates” and personally, I hope that they are not repeated in subsequent elections. There was an interesting comment on what Mervyn King was alleged to have said, well worth a glance:

In addition the Independent ran another totally daft Editorial which elicited some resonse from me:

Day Twenty Four of the Election

Today’s newspapers are of course full of the “Gordon, Mrs Duffy and Rochdale” story, the majority of which, speak of the Great Gordo’s imminent downfall. Of course a few try to downplay the whole thing which is frankly a little silly given that the last of the TV Debates is on this evening and some mention of it is inevitable.

I notice that the Independent has yet another person on ‘Work Experience’ writing Editorials with little clue how to write a headline: http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/leading-articles/leading-article-more-a-lapse-than-a-catastrophe-1957034.html

Day Twenty of the Election

The Independent today published one of their increasingly ‘immature’ editorials, do they get people on “work experience” to write them ? http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/leading-articles/leading-article-hurrah-for-democracy-1953549.html. This elicited a response from an ‘obviously’ die hard Labour supporter, my response: “ So you don’t like David Cameron, so what but, does your blindness have consequences for your judgement ?”

The Editorial too was a bit limp too because there is an awful sickening reality behind all of this regardless of political party or policies, love them or loath them, the Conservatives under Cameron are likely the “only game in town” currently and the reason is simply because they have more ‘people to call on’ than either of the other two. Regardless of the outcome, this General Election will see one of the largest intakes of new MPs we have ever seen and will exceed that of 1997.”

Day Thirteen of the Election

All rather embarrasing, I seem to becoming a bit of a “Groupie” of the journalist John Rentoul who writes for the Independent but the simple truth is that he is one of the few who writes with any common sense.

Here is yet another excellent piece of professional journalism and a thoughtful analysis of the current situation which contrasts so strongly against the spurious rubbish most of the Media has managed to date.

Day Twelve of the Election

Another not very interesting day. The Media are flying around with their skirsts up around their ears shouting that  a “Hung Parliament” is a certainty because of a one off performance by Nick Clegg the other night. And all that has happened as a consequence is that Sterling has wobbled further downwards against both the US Dollar and the Euro, a harbinger of things yet to come if the electorate continue to dither.

Like ‘em, loath ‘em or love ‘em, there is only one choice on May 6th, vote Conservative and give them a decent working majority. Mind you, from Cameron’s point of view, this would be a good election to lose, there will be no prizes in 5 years time for sorting the economic mess out, unlike ‘Maggie’ and the Falklands Factor, Dave is not likely to be that lucky, both ends of this spoon are “shitty”.

Day Eleven of the Election Campaign

Absolutely nothing to report and therefore will not bother. Last night we had the first TV Debate, by common consent across the ‘Media’, Clegg shone, Cameron came second and Brown trailed badly so, no surprises there then…

Cameron was generous to Clegg by saying that he had a good debate but quite rightly, concentrated upon what a “Good Experience” it was for him personally, “Why haven’t we done this before ?” My opinion is “Steady, let us wait and see on this one.” The Media enjoyed it, sales opportunities on ad slots abounded but I am highly sceptical of it all, perhaps the weekend will be better..?

Day Ten of the Election Campaign

Lordy, Lordy, here comes the first TV Debate and the question, is it worth watching ? My personal opinion is rather like “Match of the Day”, watching the ‘highlights and all the goals’ will be far better than the actual thing itself unless you are a total fanatic or a “Media Person”.

Of course the ‘Match Reports’ will vary wildly and depending where you read them and what their particular ‘beef or bias’ lies. If the Main Editorial in the Independent today is anything to go by, in tomorrows Indy, “Clegg Won it, Hands Down…” For a flavour of just how crap this Editorial Staff can be, read this nonsense: http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/leading-articles/leading-article-the-dividing-lines-are-clear-ndash-and-theres-no-reason-to-fear-the-prospect-of-a-hung-parliament-1945055.htm

Day Nine of the Election Campaign

Oh dear, day nine and gloom has settled over all the Media with the latest polls indicating a shrinking Tory lead and a poll showing that 32 per cent of the public hope for a hung Parliament, against 28 per cent who want a Tory majority and 22 per cent a Labour one. Lib Dem voters prefer a deal with Labour in a hung Parliament. Lord what a weak and gutless Country we have become.

Labour launched their Manifesto on Monday, the Conservatives yesterday and the LibDems today. The simple fact of the matter is that Party Manifestos from whatever party, are useless in terms of detailed policies and at best “mood music”.

Day Eight of the Election Campaign

An interesting article in the Independent by Dominic Lawson today that is worth a read because like a previous article by John Rentoul, it is pointing towards the public being fundamentally dishonest with themselves over “politicians telling the truth” – the public just don’t want to hear it, the truth.
