It has been both a privilege and a pleasure to watch a family of Grebes grow and prosper on a local lake but now as the seasons change again I noticed another familiar visitor has put in a tentative first appearance and they are a favourite.
During the Winter months we start to have a number of Cormorants feeding on the lake. It is not that they aren’t around throughout the year but during the Spring and Summer they just fly over and seem to fish out to sea only coming to fish inland during the more stormy seasons.
I have no particular experience to tell as a reason but for this but I have always been fond of Cormorants, they seem both very intelligent and alert and seem to have a bit of a sense of humour too. So here a little wing drying from the other day.
